Everton have become the latest side to compound Aston Villa’s likely fate, securing a straightforward 3-1 win over the hapless Villans.

Aston Villa

Brad Guzan – 4: Did not have too many saves to make yet conceded two and fumbled a nothing shot that, barring a goal-line intervention, would have seen Everton 3-0 ahead.

Alan Hutton – 4: Mostly ineffective. Part of the pack that failed to track Funes Mori.

Micah Richards – 3: Appeared to be responsible for marking Funes Mori in the lead-up to the opener, but lost him completely and was made to pay.

Joleon Lescott – 4: Part of a defence with cracks everywhere.

Ciaran Clark – 4: Like Lescott and Richards, culpable of loose defending when it mattered.

Aly Cissokho – 6: Villa’s more prominent wide outlet, making some positive runs but no end product. Did his best to keep Seamus Coleman accountable.

Leandro Bacuna – 5: Toiled alongside Gana but with little to show for it. One of many that ball watched ahead of Everton’s third.

Idrissa Gana – 5.5: One of Villa’s better players, tried to get involved and make things happen.

Ashley Westwood – 4.5: Went closest to scoring of any Villa player, twice, while he was on the pitch.

Jordan Ayew – 4: Involved in the opening stages of the first half but faded thereafter.

Gabby Agbonlahor – 3.5: Had to make do with sub-par service and long balls, the latter of which are by no means his forte. Often found possession in positions of little danger. Replaced with 25 minutes left.

Substitutes

Rudy Gestede – 6.5: Scored a consolation goal off the bench with a towering header.

Jordan Veretout – 5.5: Combined with fellow substitute Gestede to peg a goal back.
