West Ham earn a point at Old Trafford, as Manchester United again fail to stimulate the fans.

The folks at Old Trafford have had their share or dour stalemates this season. So in this match, they were treated with the – at this ground – rather rare pleasure of seeing an exciting stalemate. West Ham had the better of the chances, although both keepers were required to make sharp saves, and will be happy, if a little wistful, with their point. Louis van Gaal rebuffed the calls for an injection of excitement, deploying Marouane Fellaini behind Anthony Martial, and, evidently, staying fast with his heavy-possession/incision-light gameplan. Mauro Zarate might have made it an even worse night for the fans, had he finished just his chances alone. Victor Moses appeared to pull his hamstring, and in doing so added his name to the growing West Ham injury list. In the absence of any goals, the lasting impression this match left was of the imperiousness of Winston Reid, who was rock-solid throughout.
