A 76th-minute Kieran Gibbs equaliser saw Arsenal and Tottenham share the spoils in Sunday’s North London Derby at the Emirates.

Harry Kane gave Spurs the lead in the opening half, but Gibbs’ goal would see only a point return to White Hart Lane. The scoreline does not accurately portray an entertaining contest in which both teams could have scored more.

The afternoon began in silence as the stadium remembered the fallen and the end of the First World War, before the stadium erupted into song as the rivals kicked off.

Spurs superstar Kane gave Spurs the lead in the 32nd minute after a clever and clinical ball from Danny Rose saw Kane drive it across Petr Cech and into the back of the Arsenal net. The young forward had plenty of time and space to compose himself before finishing it in a typical striker’s fashion.

The match had been fairly even for most of the first half, with both teams enjoying spells of possession.
Spurs had come close earlier in the match with a header from Eric Dier that was produced by a swinging free kick.

Hugo Lloris denied Arsenal getting back into the game with a fantastic save to stop a beautiful low shot from Joel Campbell. Both sides came close once more with Oliver Giroud hitting the crossbar and heading just wide on several occasions.

Spurs looked set to seal the game but a fantastic save from Cech and a goal line clearance from Mathieu Flamini saved Arsene Wenger’s men from embarrassment.

Eventually, after a Spurs-dominated 20 minutes, Gibbs came on as a substitute to equalise from a swinging cross delivered by Mesut Ozil.

For arguably the first time in the second half, Mauricio Pochettino’s men looked to be on the back foot. Arsenal were full of confidence after drawing level and were desperate to find that final goal that would grant them the win. The game ended 1-1, but the North London Derby did not disappoint the fans or the viewers.
