Aston Villa
Brad Guzan – 5: It would be harsh to blame Guzan for the goals his side conceded, although he should have communicated better with Richards for Aguero’s first goal. Made a number of good saves to prevent City scoring even more.
Micah Richards – 2: It was a miserable day for the former City youngster who was poor to say the least. Can be blamed for all four of City’s goals because of a lack of communication, hesitance and just bad defending. The former England international will do well to bounce back from this performance.
Ciaran Clark– 5: Was the better of the defenders and did an excellent job in the first half. Gave away a penalty towards the end of the game which Aguero missed.
Joleon Lescott – 3: Another former City player who had a miserable return to the Etihad. Lescott had a decent first half but was extremely poor in the second.
Aly Cissokho – 4: Like many of the other Villa players, he enjoyed a good opening half but crumbled in the second.
Alan Hutton – 4: Was in charge of marking Silva and the Spaniard gave him an absolutely torrid time.
Idrissa Gueye – 6: The only Villa player to do well throughout the game. While his team mates crumbled around him, the Senegalese was focussed from start to finish.
Ashley Westwood – 5: Yet another player who is responsible for his side’s second half demise. Just seemed to lose focus.
Jordan Veretout–5: Did not have too much to do as City held possession for the majority of the game in Villa’s half.
Gabriel Agbonlahor –4: Barely got a meaningful touch on the ball as Villa’s front three were left isolated.
Jordan Ayew – 5.5: Tested Hart with Villa’s only effort on target but was largely anonymous barring that.
Substitutes
Rudy Gestede – 4: Replaced Agbonlahor and was almost as ineffective as him.
Leonardo Bacuna – 5: Could do little when he came on as City enjoyed possession.
Scott Sinclair – N/A: Came on for the final 10 minutes but despite his efforts couldn’t do much to penetrate City’s backline.
