Manchester City cruised to victory at the Etihad against lowly Aston Villa by four goals to none.

Sergio Aguero bagged a brace while Yaya Toure and Raheem Sterling scored the other two. It was only the second time in their last six league encounters that City managed to take all three points.

Villa continued their disastrous season by losing their fourth consecutive game in the league. Nothing seems to be going the way of Remi Garde’s team which has now conceded the most number of goals in the league (55), have scored the least number of goals (22), won the least amount of games (three) and have also lost the most games (19).

It has been a truly abysmal season for the Villans who are struggling to avoid relegation.

Manchester City

Joe Hart – 5: Had just one save to make throughout the match and was not at all troubled for the remainder.

Bacary Sagna – 6: Was barely worked defensively, which allowed him to move forward and provide support in attack.

Nicolas Otamendi – 6.5: The Argentine seems a different defender when partnering Kompany. He was solid alongside the Belgian, although there was never any actual threat from Villa.

Vincent Kompany – 6: An easy game for the City captain who was made to work on only a few occasions.

Gael Clichy –6: The Frenchman enjoyed moving up the pitch as there was barely any defending to do.

Yaya Toure – 6.5: The big Ivorian was made to work for space in the opening half but as the game opened up he enjoyed more freedom and also got on the scoresheet with a well taken effort.

Fernandinho –6: One of the few games where Fernandinho was not required to defend as much. He enjoyed a lot of possession and could even move forward regularly to join in attack.

Jesus Navas – 6.5: Was fighting a losing battle with Cissokho in the first half but seemingly improved in the second and even set up Sterling’s goal with a good low cross into the box.

David Silva – 7.5: A quiet first half performance was followed by an exquisite second half for the Spaniard. He was always lively in the final third and grabbed two assists to cap off a brilliant second half performance. His link-up play with Aguero only seems to get better.

Wilfried Bony – 5: Did not do too much apart from setting up Aguero’s first but should have had at least a goal to his name after he wasted a number of chances.

Sergio Aguero – 8.5: The Argentine was simply superb on the night and could have easily had a hat-trick had his penalty not come out of the post. Was slightly lucky with his first goal but showed pure class with his second after some lovely link-up play with Silva and finished emphatically.

Substitutes

Kalechi Iheanacho – 6.5: Replaced Silva and did a good job. Won his side a penalty towards the end.

Raheem Sterling – 7: Came on for the final 30 minutes, making an immediate impact on the game by scoring his sixth league goal of the season.

Manu Garcia – N/A: Replaced Toure for the final 10 minutes.
