Melbourne Victory have secured Victory in the A-League once more, downing 10-man Central Coast 2-0 in a gritty contest in warm Gosford.
Victory took the lead via a crisp moving started from the back. Rashid Mahazi made a crucial interception on the dangerous Fabio Ferreira’s run, before Matthieu Delpierre picked up possession and launched an excellent ball out to Jai Ingham.
The youngster took his cross confidently and first time, picking out Besart Berisha who coolly flicked beyond the reach of Paul Izzo.
The Mariners never really got going, and a red card to Michael Neill made that task all the more difficult.
Yet despite all the territory and chances, it took Victory a full 77 minutes to finally secure the result through Fahid Ben Khalfallah, who was gifted a tap-in by man of the match Ingham.
