AFC Bournemouth
Artur Boruc – 3: His glaring mistake gifted Watford their only goal- marring what was otherwise a winning performance from the Cherries.
Simon Francis – 7: Surging runs and solid defense as Francis continued to earn the captain’s armband.
Steve Cook – 6: Had a comfortable game in the heart of the defense and almost snatched the three points for his side with a spectacular overhead kick late in the second-half, could not beat Gomes though.
Sylvain Distin – 6: A textbook performance from the seasoned Frenchman. His tackle choice was safe and always picked up the free man at the back.
Charlie Daniels – 5: A quietish day compared to what we have come to expect from Daniels, but did not have any major frailties to report.
Matt Ritchie – 7: He noticeably stood up in the absence of Callum Wilson, running with determination and intent. Provided a pin-point perfect cross to Murray for the opening goal and was itching to take the penalty that was eventually missed.
Dan Gosling – 6: Too often played the safe option, but did operate as the middle man in Bournemouth’s play. Covered ground well.
Andrew Surman – 6: The opposite to Gosling, Surman found time to show-off his long range passing game, often helping to switch the play from one wing to another.
Marc Pugh – 5: Looked his usual sprightly self, but did suffer from some poor dribble selection at times. His own disjointed performance, observably affecting Charlie Daniels’ ability to overlap.
Joshua King- 6: Linked up well with the midfield and looked dangerous on the counter-attack. However, did lack a bit of strikers instinct in the final third. Showing good signs though.
Glenn Murray- 7: Headed home an ideal cross to give Bournemouth the lead and on the whole, evaded his markers well during cross opportunities. Conceded a yellow card after a repeat altercation with Etienne Capoue. Despite his optimistic performance, his failure at the penalty spot ultimately cost the Cherries three league points.
Substitutes
Adam Smith- 6: Subbed-on for the misfiring Pugh, Smith’s impact on the game seemed a positive one. His eagerness to chase the loose ball ultimately resulted in his winning of the penalty.
Eunan O’Kane- 5: Provided Bournemouth with a fresh set of legs. However, snatched an opportunity to shoot instead of laying off to a primed Ritchie late in the second-half, Gomes would comfortably save it.
SAVE! Heurelho Gomes saves Murray’s penalty. It’s still Bournemouth 1-1 Watford. https://t.co/Z2MlT4TJbp
