Sherwood stumbles and Mourinho’s humble

Both teams were in very poor form coming into this match. Both managers were under a great deal of pressure and this match provided for them an opportunity to show the board and the fans that they were the right men for their respective jobs. Tim Sherwood continued his struggle fashion a winning gameplan, even though Aston Villa were better than usual. After Villa fired Paul Lambert last year, they would have no qualms firing Tim Sherwood if he too fails to lead the Villans to a respectable finish.

Jose Mourinho had a very normal press conference and didn’t get up to his usual antics. This could be due to the board heaping the pressure on the Portuguese manager, and he’s taken the message to keep his behaviour in check.. The win against Aston Villa won’t exactly redeem him completely but if he can get Chelsea on a winning run then that might just keep him in the job. He just needs to stay away from the tomfoolery in the post match press conferences!
