Herrera impresses again

After his dazzling display in United’s 3-0 win over Everton last weekend, Herrera put in another exceptional shift in an otherwise cold and fairly dull night. The Spanish midfielder scored one and assisted another of United’s goals on the weekend, and again he was at the heart of the majority of the best forward moves.

His movement, energy and vision certainly help United to attack more vibrantly. Herrera slipped through Valencia to Martial unmarked in the box for the equaliser, while a cross led to Wayne Rooney’s best chance of the night and the visitors’ best chance to take all three points.

So far this season van Gaal has been prepared to experiment with United’s No.10 position. After a series of strong displays, Herrera is beginning to make that position look like his own.
