Chelsea are planning a January transfer raid for Brazilian midfielder Thiago Maia, with Antonio Conte reportedly keen on bolstering his squad further.
Maia, 17, has represented Brazil at U17, U20, and U23 level, but is yet to be capped for the senior side. He operates as a defensive midfielder.
According to the Daily Mail, Maia is one of a number of young stars on Chelsea’s radar, with highly rated defender Nicklas Sule also a prime target.
According to Sule’s agent, there was contact from the Premier League for his client’s services.
“Yes, there was interest,” Karlheinz Forster, Sule’s agent, told Bild. “The English have made it clear they’ll still be interested next year.”
Sule went on to state that for the moment, he remains happy plying his trade in the Bundesliga.
“I’ve got my familiar environment here,” Sule explained. “That was and is very important for my development, and the base to put in constant performances at a high level.”
Chelsea travel to face Swansea City on Sunday, looking to continue their perfect start to the season under Conte.
