VFL Wolfsburg

Diego Benaglio – 4: Was equal to Douglas Costa’s numerous speculative shots in the first half but was absolutely blitzed in the first half and was somewhat suspect when trying to deal with Lewandowski’s 3rd goal.

Christian Trasch – 4: Coped well enough with Mario Gotze in the first half but was overwhelmed by Costa and Alaba in the second half. Was exploited by the former on several occasions during the second half.

Naldo – 4.5: Managed to keep out Muller very well in the first half but was ripped apart by Lewandowski and Muller in the second half. Didn’t get close enough to Lewandowski for his 2nd goal.

Dante – 4: Managed well enough in the first half but cracked under the pressure of his former team in the second. Missed the fateful sliding challenge in the 51st minute which kicked off the chaos.

Rodriguez – 4.5: Was fantastic in the first half as he forced Costa into speculative shots. Collapsed in the second half as he could not cope with the pace of the Bayern attack.

Guilivagui – 4: Was bright in the first half as he and Gustavo controlled the midfield area. A reshaped Bayern over-ran him as he couldn’t cope with the consistently moving attacking quartet.

Luis Gustavo – 3.5: Was good in the first half but was poor in the second. He could not manage the refreshed midfield and was dominated by Vidal and Alonso.

Daniel Caligiuri – 3.5: Was decent in the first half but was poor in the second as he could not get the better of Alaba the way that he got the better of Bernat. Did not contribute enough at the other end which resulted in Trasch being exposed by Costa and Alaba.

Max Kruse – 3: Was only ok in the first half among a very impressive Wolfsburg but he never really took a hold of the game. Things only deteriorated in the second half as he hardly got a touch on the ball.

Julian Draxler – 5: Was Wolfsburg’s best player on the day. Terrorised Lahm on occasions and everything good about Wolfsburg revolved around him in the first half. Got the assist for the goal. Did not have any impact in the second half as Bayern took control.

Bas Dost – 4: Was a handful in the first half with his movement and strength. Got very little service in the second half and was bossed by Martinez and Boateng when he did get the ball.

Substitutes:

Maximilian Arnold – 3: Made little impact when he came on for Luis Gustavo in the 59th minute.

Nicklas Bendtner – NA: Came on for Bas Dost in the 78th minute.

André Schurrle – NA: Came on for Max Kruse in the 78th minute.
