Adelaide United forward Pablo Sanchez has put pen to paper by signing a one-year contract extension with the Reds, following an impressive second-half of the season.

The 32-year-old joined the South Australian outfit from Spanish Segunda Division side Club Deportivo Lugo in August last year.

As a result, the contract renewal will now keep the Spaniard at the club until the end of the 2015/16 campaign.

Speaking after re-signing with the Reds, Sanchez revealed he was thrilled to extend his contract and stated it was his goal to stay in the City of Churches for another season.

“I am so happy to re-sign and it was my objective since the first day that I wore the Reds shirt,” Sanchez said.

“I have enjoyed everything about my first season here. We won the Westfield FFA Cup and we have stayed in the top-half of the table the whole season.”

Adelaide United boss Josep Gombau also expressed his joy in seeing the former Recreativo man commit to the club for a further year.

“Pablo [Sanchez] has had a very good season and we are happy to have [him] here with us for the next season,” Gombau said.

Sanchez joins a plethora of United players who have already re-signed with the Reds in the past few months, including the likes of Marcelo Carrusca, Sergio Cirio, Osama Malik and Bruce Djite among others.

The versatile attacker has accumulated 23 A-League appearances in his first season, scoring seven goals in the process.
