Melbourne Victory has secured a massive coup ahead of the A-League finals, securing the prized signature of Fahid Ben Khalfallah for a further two seasons.

The new deal will see Khalfallah remain at the club until the end of the 2016-17 season, joining Connor Pain, Rashid Mahazi, Jason Geria and Scott Galloway in signing new contracts.

The Tunisian winger has proven to be one of the season’s best recruits, scoring five goals with nine assists, and was in high demand prior to today.

Melbourne Victory football operations manager Paul Trimboli sung the 32-year-old’s praises following the announcement.

“Fahid brings so much to Melbourne Victory on and off the pitch,” Trimboli said.

“It was a priority for us to secure him and we are thrilled to get his signature.”

Khalfallah himself spoke of his delight at signing a new contract with the Victory.

“The club has been so supportive to me and my family since we have been in Australia and I love Melbourne, so Melbourne Victory was the only club I wanted to play for,” Khalfallah said.

The attacker was signed by Kevin Muscat days away from the beginning of the 2014-15 season after spending his entire professional career in France, most recently with Bordeaux and Troyes.

In further signing news, Melbourne Victory announced on Twitter that the club had signed Brisbane Strikers goalkeeper Michael Turnbull as an injury replacement for Nathan Coe ahead of the finals series.

The Victory will end the home and away season against Central Coast Mariners at AAMI Park on Sunday where it is expected the club will land its first major silverware in five years.
