Inconsistent City but Aloisi continues to impress

Unless something is changed fast it would seem that Melbourne City are destined to repeat another Jekyll and Hyde season. A draw is a decent response to their gutless performance against the Western Sydney Wanderers last week but a much needed win eluded them. Despite the result, City’s attacking front put on a show for the Brisbane crowd with Novillo, Gameiro and Mooy testing Brisbane’s defence to no avail. The Melbourne City that tore Adelaide United apart has almost disappeared and consistent performances are the bane of van’t Schip but it leaves a much better feeling for supporters following the 3-0 loss to Western Sydney.

While the City boss looks to have his job hanging by a thread, his opposite number John Aloisi continues to impress. Melbourne City were holding on their lead by a thread and the result may have been different if Brisbane’s new figurehead had not had the bright idea to throw on the creativity of Henrique. The ex-Melbourne Heart gaffer did well to read the game and bring on the ‘slippery fish’ to unlock City’s resilient defence. Perhaps Roar could have done better to win the game but Aloisi will be feeling that a draw is a fair result considering how evenly matched the sides were.
