Has Castelen opened the floodgates?

Castelen has finally scored his first goal of the season after a stunning run down the right-wing, in which he was able to beat Georgievski and get the ball past Victory goalkeeper Vukovic. He has been a consistently positive attacking player for the Wanderers so far this campaign but was without a goal – though not for lack of trying.

In his eight appearances this season he has consistently threatened the opposition goal, gotten into good positions and always appears dangerous, only lacking the finishing required to get him on the scoresheet.

Now that he has finally opened his 2015-16 account, he could be set for a goal-filled rest of the season.

The A-League is better with fans

The boycotts of last weekend saw atmosphere-less games played in front of empty active areas. Thanks to the meeting between the FFA and members of each club’s active supporter group, this round’s fixtures saw the return of the diehard A-League fans in full effect.

While the action on the pitch was entertaining and fiery, the passion of the players was matched in the stands, with the chants of the RBB echoing around the stadium. The stark contrast in the atmosphere between this game and last round highlighted just how important the fans are to the overall spectacle of the A-League.
