The Western Sydney Wanderers will play their home games at ANZ Stadium and Spotless Stadium in 2016-17.

An announcement made by the club earlier today saw the move become official, as their current base in Parramatta is set to be rebuilt.

The 83,000 seat ANZ Stadium will host four of the season’s highest-profile affairs, including the Sydney derbies, while the other matches will be played at Spotless Stadium.

With both located among the Sydney Olympic Park complex, Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas believes it will provide the perfect foundation to expand the club’s hold on the region.

“The overwhelming response from our members was they wanted a central location that has good public transport and access as well as being able to fit in not only our current 18,341 members but also have room to grow,” said Tsatsimas.

“We look forward to creating an environment at both venues that will retain the atmosphere that has become synonymous with Wanderers matches, as well as creating a new standard in our delivery of match days to our members, new fans and corporate partners.”

It is a decision welcomed by all involved, with Stadium Australia Operations CEO Daryl Kerry also expressing his delight.

“In just four seasons, the Western Sydney Wanderers have established themselves as one of Australia’s outstanding sporting clubs,” said Mr Kerry.

“We look forward to welcoming the Wanderers and their passionate supporters to Sydney’s Olympic stadium.

“In particular, we’re excited to be hosting our first Sydney derby in October and giving everybody in Greater Sydney the opportunity to experience this magnificent event.”

The Wanderers sit among a tightly-contested top four on the A-League table and play their final home game of 2015-16 against the Central Coast Mariners on Friday night.
