Toon now propping up the table
We are almost at that time of the season when the league table has a credible look to it and is a true reflection of how your club is performing. Worryingly for Newcastle fans, this 2-0 defeat means they now sit at the bottom of the league with just two points from a possible 15 and only two goals scored – both on the opening day. Granted, their fixture list was not kind to them in the opening month, but West Ham, who have not been impressive at home were there for the taking and a truly lacklustre performance from Steve McClaren’s side means it needs to be a big week on the training pitch, ahead of the important home match against Watford this coming weekend.
