The gang had the pleasure of speaking to Wellington Phoenix coach Ernie Merrick on the Daily Football Show.
On the agenda was his side’s indifferent start to the season, the ‘Long-distance Derby’ triumph and the potential of Roy Krishna, whom Merrick was very optimistic about.
The Phoenix started the season with a disappointing 2-1 home loss to the Newcastle Jets, but bounced back on Sunday in horrible conditions in Perth, snatching a late-winner to come home with all three points.
Despite the inconsistent start, Merrick said he was relatively pleased with the club’s start to the season and was savoring the opportunity to face ladder-leaders Brisbane Roar at home on Saturday.
