Chelsea’s disastrous season continued at the King Power Stadium as they were beaten 2-1 by Leicester City.

Chelsea are now only one point outside the relegation zone and with every passing game the question of a possible relegation fight continues to gain momentum.

Jose Mourinho’s men have now lost nine times after 16 games, leaving the reigning champions languishing in 16th position on the Premier League table.

The Blues were clearly second-best in the opening half as Riyad Mahrez combined with Jamie Vardy to give the home side lead.

Mahrez doubled the Foxes’ lead early in the second half with a brilliant curling effort that flew past Thibaut Courtois.

It took Chelsea over an hour to finally test Kasper Schmeichel who brilliantly thwarted Diego Costa.

Shortly after, Loic Remy was brought on and he would eventually pull a goal back for the away side that would fail to find an equaliser.

It is incredible to think that when the two sides met at the end of last season, the roles were reversed. Leicester have made unimaginable strides forward, while the Blues continue to sink deeper into a possible relegation dog-fight.

Chelsea welcome Sunderland to Stamford Bridge on Saturday in what is now a relegation six-pointer. If the Blues fail to collect anything but the three points, Mourinho’s time may in fact be up.

The reigning champions continue to wobble and for that, Chelsea Football Club is Outside90’s Villain of the Week.
