Rotation finds the mark for Mourinho
After five Premier League games which have seen key players fail to come close to their exploits of last season, Mourinho took the opportunity to try out some fresh faces in the positions where weakness has been so costly already. Nemanja Matic, John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic all gave-up their places in the defensive half of the field, allowing opportunities for Kurt Zouma, Baba Raman and Reuben Loftus-Cheek to show if they could plug the holes in the backline.
In their current form it is unlikely that Ivanovic or Terry could handle the rigours of competing in multiple competitions, yet watching their side cruise to a win from the sidelines will remind them that when the results are not coming, no spot in the Chelsea starting XI can be guaranteed.
