Manchester United edged out rivals Manchester City who, despite having 26 shots on goal, failed to capitalise on their chances at home, leaving their title challenge in ruins.

Jesus Navas (Manchester City) – A lacklustre City performance was characterised by an underwhelming display from the Spanish midfielder. He had plenty of possession but could not deliver an end product, nor could he capitalise on his own goalscoring chances. With just one goal for the season, he failed to improve on a disappointing campaign.

Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) – Having struggling to make an impact upon signing from Liverpool, Sterling offered little going forward. He went down with a groin injury and was substituted after 26 minutes.

Martin Demichelis (Manchester City) – The Argentine’s performance was riddled with uncertain moments, showing why he is not Manuel Pellegrini’s first choice centre-back. Marcus Rashford made him look all of his 35 years after easing past him for the goal, he was lucky not to give away a penalty just before half time, and a lazy back-pass caused Joe Hart’s injury. A dismal display ended when he was taken off on 52 minutes.
