Socceroo Tom Rogic opened the scoring in Celtic’s 5-2 victory in their Champions League qualifier on Wednesday evening.
With European football’s highest stage just 180 minutes away, the Bhoys got their two-legged Champions League qualifier off to the perfect start, downing Israeli side Hapoel Be’er Sheva 5-2 at Celtic Park.

Rogic got Celtic moving early, capitalising on a rebound after nine minutes to put the Scottish Champions in front. They would consolidate the lead through a Leigh Griffiths double shortly before half time, only for Hapoel to peg two back after the interval.
But Scott Brown and Moussa Dembele ensured Celtic could breathe easy heading into the second leg, adding two more goals to leave the Hoops on the brink of their first Champions League group stage since the 2013-14 edition.

The goal and victory caps off a great week for Rogic, who was selected in Ange Postecoglou’s squad to tackle Iraq and the United Arab Emirates in September’s World Cup qualifiers.
The second leg will be played in Beersheba, Israel on 23 August.
