Milan lack the final blow

It is the same old story for Milan, it seems. While Mihajlovic has instilled some belief in the team and improved the defence immensely compared to last year, the Rossoneri are struggling to make any real chances in attack; they are lacking end product. Having just two shots on target all game, and one of those shots coming in stoppage time towards the end of the match, will leave Mihajlovic and fans wondering what needs to be done. Both Carlos Bacca and Luiz Adriano needed to improve from their match against Atalanta through the international break, however that has not seemed to work, and with Mario Balotelli out until at least January, Mihajlovic will be scratching his head for ideas.

They are not the only problem though. Wingers Alessio Cerci and Mbaye Niang struggled to provide the final blow to all their trickery to bring the ball upfield. The best chance for Milan came when Cerci had a shot on target in the final stages of the match.

Sliding down the table

Just when it looked like Milan were gathering momentum to make a run towards the top half of the table, they falter. Beginning the international break with a scoreless draw did little for confidence, and it showed in this match when the Rossoneri managed just 39% possession in the first half of the match, and only two shots on target, compared to Juventus’ five shots. The loss sees Milan drop to seventh, with Juventus leapfrogging them into sixth spot on the Serie A table. If both Lazio and Atalanta win their respective matches this weekend, then Milan could drop to ninth spot. Head coach Mihajlovic will, once again, be feeling the pressure from his team’s poor performances, and will be looking to turn it around when they take on Sampdoria next week.
