Juventus were able to notch only their second win of the Serie A season after inspiring performances from Alvaro Morata and debutant Sami Khedira led the Turin giants to victory on Sunday.
Anthony Mounier opened the scoring for the visitors after nicely latching onto a cross and beating Gianluigi Buffon. However, Juventus managed to run away with the game after Morata equalised with a header, while Paulo Dybala and Khedira secured the result.
Juventus
Gianluigi Buffon – 5: Not often the veteran shot stopper gets a poor rating, but he could have done more to stop Mounier’s effort that sent Bologna ahead. Otherwise untested.
Andrea Barzagli – 6: Not as involved as he was against Sevilla midweek, however, still a good performance. Almost had an assist for a lovely cross in the first half.
Leonardo Bonucci – 6.5: Good game from Bonucci. Barely tested with Bologna’s attacking trident. Ended the game with the highest individual pass success rating, 93%.
Giorgio Chiellini – 6.5: Played with a heap of confidence. ‘King Kong’ even galloped forward at times and was rarely tested against the Bologna attack.
Patrice Evra – 7: Defended and attacked very well. Kept his opponent quiet and made a few vital tackles.
Paul Pogba – 6.5: Mixed bag from the superstar Frenchman. On occasions, he would do the dirty work and on others he would showboat a little too much.
Hernanes – 6: Juventus are hardly getting the true Hernanes by playing him in the middle of a midfield three. However, they are left without many options right now given Claudio Marchisio’s injury. Put in a respectable shift.
Sami Khedira – 7.5: Another standout performance from the World Cup-winning German. Made his Serie A debut and looked terrific, carrying on from his man of the match exploits against Sevilla midweek. Lovely run to get on the end of Alvaro Morata’s exceptional cross to the back post where he was able to give the Bianconeri a comfortable 3-1 lead.
Juan Cuadrado – 6.5: Not much came off for the Colombian who has started his Juventus career well. Still, full of energy and ideas.
Paulo Dybala – 7.5: Gave Juventus a 2-1 lead with his well taken penalty. The Argentine battles hard and will only get better with time.
Alvaro Morata – 9: Did everything and more today, having a hand in each of his team’s three goals. Scored one of his own, earning the penalty which Dybala slotted and set up Khedira with a lovely cross for the third. Man of the match.
Substitutes
Mario Lemina – 6: Added more speed when introduced.
Kwado Asamoah – N/A: Replaced Khedira with only a few minutes left.
Simone Zaza – 6: Replaced Morata with 15 minutes remaining.
