Everton manager Ronald Koeman has questioned his side’s attitude after they fell to a 1-0 loss at the hands of Bournemouth.

The Blues suffered their first defeat of the league season at the hands of the Cherries, with Junior Stanislas’ goal enough for a second win of the campaign.

However, it is their second defeat in a row after succumbing to Norwich City in the League Cup on Tuesday night.

Everton were not able to claw back the deficit and Koeman lamented a lack of aggression.

“I think Bournemouth were the better team, the more aggressive team and that was the problem in the first half,” he told evertontv.

“You can’t win if you play like the first 45 minutes.

“We lost every second ball, we lost every battle. It was not really that aggression that you need to win the game. At least we showed that in the second half but we did not score.

“It was the whole team performance in the first half that was not good enough … they were stronger, they were faster.

“We had to change something, the last 10, 15 minutes to play with more risk.

“But football always starts with your attitude, and that was not good enough today.”

Everton’s next fixture is a home clash with Crystal Palace, who have not suffered defeat at Goodison Park since returning to the Premier League in 2013.
