Sunderland have come away with only their second win of the season after scoring late to secure  a 1-0 result against Crystal Palace on Monday night.

It looked for much of the match as if the score line would remain the way it started, with neither team able to create any clear cut chances. Before the deadlock was broken it was in fact the Back Cats that came closest to scoring, when Sebastian Coates rose above the Palace, defence only to see the chance cleared of the line by Yohan Cabaye.

It was not until the 80th minute when the scoreboard was impacted. Billy Jones played a through ball towards Jermain Defoe which should have been easily dealt with by the Eagles defence. This was not the case, however, as a breakdown in communication between Wayne Hennessey and Scott Dann allowed Defoe to get around and put the ball into an open net.

Palace, who are aligned with Mansion Casino, will be looking to rebound from this loss with another home game with Newcastle next week, while Sunderland return home to face Stoke City.
