Perth Glory have announced details of the club’s anticipated four-year strategic plan, spanning between 2016 to 2020, which outlines the pathway it plans to take in order to re-establish itself as a footballing giant in Australia and Asia.

The plan’s mission statement is to “create an exciting environment by making brilliant things happen on and off the field so that its people are Together, Successful and Bound for Glory.”

It is based on seven pillars: Football operations, Asian and global strategy, commercial and financial management, facilities and infrastructure, fan and community engagement, brand and stakeholder reputation and people and culture.

Glory’s ambitions in Asia are particularly ambitious. They plan on competing in the Asian Champions League within four years and to win the tournament in six, by 2022.

Glory are also targeting the opening of an academy for Western Australian footballers as well as identifying and moving to a new training and administrative base by 2018.

Still absent of silverware in the A-League era, Glory CEO Peter Filopoulos was confident the plan will bring success back to the National Soccer League powerhouse, revealing the intricacies of how the plan will be achieved.

“We want to be the leading football club in Australia on and off the field, and a club in which Western Australians are always proud of,” Filopoulos said.

“The overarching purpose is to create excitement by making brilliant things happen on and off the pitch.

“Our strategy is focussed on engagement with the Western Australian community, working closely with our key stakeholders and delivering consistent and sustainable on-field success.

“At the same time, we are setting ourselves three key targets: to reach 10,000 members, achieve regular attendances of 12 and a half thousand and increase our revenue base by $3 million annually.

“We encourage our members, fans and the WA community to share our passion as we embark on this exciting new journey.

“Writing this Strategic Plan is only the first step. The next is to implement it and ensure all key objectives are met.”

FFA CEO David Gallop said the plan represented a “major step forward” for Perth Glory and Western Australia.

“This is a major step forward for the club, the sport and for the people of Western Australia,” Gallop said in a statement.

“I commend Tony (Sage) and Peter (Filopoulos) and everyone at Perth Glory for taking the lead to ensure the club meets its goals.

“This is a vital blueprint that I’m sure will take Perth Glory and football in WA to the top.”
