Outside90’s Joshua Scarcella casts an eye over the five best individual performances to come from the weekend’s Serie A action.

Stefano Sorrentino (Verona vs Palermo)

He has been the hero on many occasions this season for the Rosaneri and this week was no exception. Amazingly, Stefano Sorrentino had the second -highest total touches for Palermo during the match, only beaten by Franco Vasquez. An influential seven saves highlighted the fact that the veteran is getting better with age.

Gonzalo Higuain (Frosinone vs Napoli)

Much of Napoli’s success for the current season is partly due to their Argentinian front man, who seems to have continued from where he left off before the Christmas break.

Gonzalo Higuain scored another two goals in what was a dominating performance from the away side, which gives him a seven goal lead at the top of the 2015-16 scorers list.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (Fiorentina vs Lazio)

A frustrating campaign for Lazio has included many inconsistent performances and even though Sergej Milinkovic has been part of this group, he has also produced leadership qualities when required.

Negating an opposition midfield with the talent Fiorentina possesses is no easy feat, yet the Serbian was able to achieve this and turned the pressure back onto la Viola. Scoring the match winner was the icing on the cake for the 21-year-old.

Fabrizio Cacciatore (Bologna vs Cheivo)

Although the majority of his career has been spent on loan to different clubs, Fabrizio Cacciatore has always found a way to make a valuable contribution, something which has been no different during his time at Chievo.

The italian’s consistency has lead to him not missing a match for Chievo since the beginning of October 2015.

A stunning performance at fullback was capped-off with a pin-point cross to set up Simone Pepe for the winning goal.

Panagiotis Tachtsidis (Atalanta vs Genoa)

Panagotis Tachtsidis has featured in our top five on two other occasions this season and although not having regular gametime, he has installed himself as an important part of the Genoa squad.

The midfield did not have many attacking statistics to show, however, was a massive reason why Atalanta were not able to mount a shot on target for the match. This all began from the attacking pressure placed on the oppositions defence trying to play the ball out.

87 Touches

Five Interceptions

Three Aerial duels won
