Cascadia Cup a sign of Seattle’s recovery
In a keenly contested encounter the Seattle Sounders claimed the notable scalp of the Vancouver Whitecaps and the Cascadia Cup in one fell swoop, with a 3-0 victory at BC Place Saturday night.
The Sounders’ first Cascadia cup since 2011, reaffirms an improved dynamic for a side that had struggled notably during the middle part of the season.

However, the return of star duo Obafemi Martins and Clint Dempsey, allied to the arrival of notable reinforcements has seen the team resemble more what had been expected of one of the league’s most dominant franchises.
The victory over the Whitecaps perhaps acted as a warning signal to the rest of the league. Although they may be far from the most complete side in the competition, on their day they can be a tough fixture for any opposition.
