Defender Annabel Martin has taken out the Melbourne Victory women’s medal after her stellar 2015-16 W-League season.

Martin played 12 games for the Victory this campaign and accepted the accolade at the club’s medal awards on Saturday night.

“I’d like to thank everyone who’s put in work throughout the season. It wasn’t the one we were hoping for, but hopefully we move on to bigger and better things,” she said.

“I’d like to thank the girls, I’ve really enjoyed the first season and hopefully again next season come out bigger and stronger. I’d like to thank my parents, I wouldn’t be here without them. Thanks very much.”

It was also announced that Victory teenager MelindaJ Barbieri has taken out the club’s young player of the year award.

The 15-year-old played 12 games and scored two goals for the Blue and White during the 2015-16 W-League season.

“I’d like to thank the staff and the coaches for helping me out in this journey. I’d also like to thank my parents for driving me three hours – yes it was that long,” Barbieri conceded.

“Lastly I’d like to thank the Melbourne Victory girls, without them I don’t think I’d be here. The motivation and support they have given me is just amazing.”
