What a blow to Liverpool supporters.
The well-documented, long-winded and exhausting pursuit of January transfer target Alex Teixeira seems to have amounted to nothing.
Daily Mail have reported the Shakhtar Donetsk attacker is on the verge of a stunning move to join Chinese Super League outfit Jiangsu Sainty.

According to the report, Liverpool never put in a bid of more than £30m for Teixeira, which ultimately led to a breakdown in negotiations with the Ukrainian powerhouse wanting close to £38m.
However, a deal of £35m looks like it will be sufficient enough for Jiangsu to secure the Brazilian’s services.
If it’s fact, not fiction, then it comes as a crushing blow for Jurgen Klopp’s first highly-rated target as Liverpool boss.
As for the actual fans, well it’s safe to say Reds fans worldwide have greeted this news with a degree of anger and grim expectation.

Same old #LFC in regards to transfers. Pay bucket loads for absolute shite then won’t stump up an extra £5m for someone like Teixeira.

If Teixeira wants to go to China in his mid 20s can only mean he is motivated by money. I get it if you are in your 30s. #lfc #Teixeira

Teixeira hasn’t liked anything on Instagram that’s China related so don’t panic, Instagram is the key to new signings, word.

We blew it with Teixeira and now he’s going off to China for a reported £35m. Had we paid a bit more money he would’ve been here.

Alex Teixeira. If he wants to go to Chinese league, then he’s not the right guy. Easy league. Why is that ok for him? Light weight. #LFC

China? Really Teixeira? Complete lack of ambition. It’s laughable! Just goes to show how money talks in football. #LFC
