Tottenham Hotspur have failed to take advantage of Leicester City’s slip up yesterday and claim top spot, following a 1-0 loss away to West Ham United.
West Ham took a lead inside 10 minutes through in-form striker Michail Antonio, who rose high to head in a powerful shot past Hugo Lloris.
For all of their efforts, the Spurs found it extremely tough to break down their opponents who were resilient and disciplined in the first half.

West Ham saw the game out via some classy defending, grit and collective determination to provide themselves with a remarkable opportunity to finish in the top four after Manchester City’s heavy defeat away to Liverpool.
On the other hand, Spurs will rue a missed opportunity and will have to regroup for an all mighty clash against bitter rivals Arsenal on Saturday which could have big title ramifications.
Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter:
FT: #whufc 1-0 #thfc. One of our worst performances of the season. Really disappointed with that. Huge opportunity to really take advantage.

Properly disappointing performance. Lacked anything close to a killer instinct tonight. Looked a step or two off the pace… #THFC

Some of the results in the #PL tonight have proved that anybody really can beat anybody. So close. Outstanding win for #WHUFC!

Credit to #whufc withstanding pressure in 2nd half. Now beat #mcfc, #lfc, #cfc, #afc & #thfc. I think Bilic might be satisfied #BPL

Disappointing but not definitive. Good news is that we don’t have any time to dwell on it. Onward. #thfc

While beating #Spurs is always a pleasure, doing so with a great team as part of such a great season is nothing but joy. #coyi #whufc

Was always going to be a tough game, #WHUFC always good at home. Still at least none of the top 4 won, so things could have been worse #COYS

Before tonight #THFC won 6 straight PL games. The abuse they are getting from ‘fans’ is laughable.

Fair play to West Ham, thought they were excellent tonight. Only consolation is the other results. Let’s bounce back Saturday #COYS #THFC

It’s not all bad 10 games left. 30 points to play for and only 3 points behind Leicester #COYS #thfc

Could have been far far worse. Get the dodgy game out the way and back to The Lane on Saturday. Enjoy the win West Ham #COYS #WHUFC

The perfect night. Spurs and Arsenal both lose. Never mind top six, Champions League will do nicely in our shiny new stadium. #WHUFC #COYI
