The Western Sydney Wanderers made it three in a row against Melbourne City with a comfortable 3-0 win at AAMI Park on Friday night.
Without the talismanic Aaron Mooy, City looked devoid of attacking intent as the Wanderers slowly strangled the life out of their opponents with a fluent possession-based style of football.
Andreu and Dimas dominated in midfield but it was the performances of Mitch Nichols and Dario Vidosic which most caught the eye. It was the former of the two who opened the scoring for the visitors after Vidosic’s lovely squared ball.
The performance of Federico Piovaccari left a lot to be desired. Despite this, the Italian finally got off the mark with a controversial goal after the linesmen prematurely raised the flag for offside.
A Mark Bridge goal was enough to tie up the three points for Tony Popovic’s side who have hit a rich vein of form after a slow start. Meanwhile, the future of John van’t Schip looks more and more dire with inconsistently plaguing his tenure as City head coach.

Looking forward to, in 10 years time, watching the documentary ‘November 13’ about the magical night Piovaccari actually scored #MCYvWSW — Vince Rugari (@VinceRugari) November 13, 2015

Controversial goal just a distraction to Mooy-less mediocrity from Melb City tonight. Outplayed by a better team. #MCYvWSW — Athas Zafiris (@ArtSapphire) November 13, 2015
Any A-League coach complaining about job security for coaches hasn’t been paying attention to JvS getting such a long & free ride. #MCYvWSW

JVS has had plenty time to get things right so they can manage without a star like Mooy. Must be time for some crunch talks at Melb City. — Daniel Garb (@DanielGarb) November 13, 2015

Some of our fans are toxic. The same fans that won’t show up again until after we win another game. Solid foundations. #MCYvWSW — Nick Sculley (@sculls_6) November 13, 2015
City’s best defending was holding Norvillo back from the ref #MCYvWSW
