Perth Glory’s good form continued in the long distance derby, following a 2-1 win against a lacklustre Wellington Phoenix.
The visitors were on the front foot from the outset and they got a deserved breakthrough when Richard Garcia split two defenders, burst into the box and laid on an inch-perfect pass for Andy Keogh to fire home from close range.
Wellington huffed and puffed in the second half, although they failed to test Ante Covic with any credible efforts.
On 74 minutes they doubled their advantage put the game to bed when Chris Harold sprinted through one-on-one and his shot directly at Glen Moss was bundled into the onrushing Diego Castro, who finished off into an empty net.
As the game petered out, Tom Doyle scored a stunning strike in the dying moments of the match but it was too little too late for the home side.
The victory sees Perth remain in fifth, only four points off second place with three games remaining, while Wellington sit ninth with a point adrift of Newcastle Jets.

Some strike by Doyle. Pedestrian effort there by Perth's defence, but jeez did he punish them. #WELvPER
