Liverpool came out and surprised yet were deserving winners in a high-scoring fixture at the Etihad on Saturday.

The Reds nearly took a three-goal lead into half time only for Sergio Aguero to get on the scoresheet for City just before the break.

Goals from Phillipe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and an own goal from Eliaquim Mangala were followed by a superb Martin Skrtel volley to seal a famous victory for the Merseyside outfit. The loss resulted in Manchester City dropping down to third place, while Liverpool moved up to ninth position.

Manchester City

Joe Hart – 6: A good individual performance was let down by a poor defence. Made a number of important saves to keep his side from even more embarrassment.

Martin Demichelis – 3: Was extremely poor over the course of the 90 minutes, putting in one of the worst defensive performances of the campaign.

Eliaquim Mangala – 4: Scored a treacherous own goal that gave Liverpool the lead. Struggled to cope with the Reds’ attacking players throughout the game.

Aleksandar Kolarov – 5: Got an assist to his name but was otherwise invisible.

Yaya Toure – 4: Taken off at half time after a poor display.

Fernando – 5: Failed to make any sort of real impact on the game but was one of City’s decent performers on the night.
