Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City continued their dream run with a 3-2 win over Everton at Goodison Park to send the Foxes on top of the Premier League at Christmas.

The ‘Tinkerman’ was forced to make changes to the side defeated Chelsea last week at the King Power Stadium. With Danny Drinkwater out injured and Robert Hurth suspended, the two were replaced by Andy King and Marcin Wasilewski, while Leonardo Ulloa made way for Shinji Okazaki.

Even with three changes to their side, Ranieri’s men went about the business as usual and took the lead through a Riyad Mahrez penalty.

The Foxes were pegged back by Romelu Lukaku’s first-half goal, but again the league leaders showed their quality by winning another penalty and establishing their lead – Mahrez once again calmly converting.

Okazaki added a third to ensure that Leicester walked away with all three points and remained top of the pile over the holidays.

The Foxes are the first side in Premier League history to be bottom of the table at Christmas one year and top of the table the next.

Ranieri has been a revelation at Leicester City this season and for guiding them to the summit at Christmas, the Italian is Outside 90’s Hero of the Week.
