Tottenham Hotspur will win their last four games and take the title race right to the wire, according to former Spurs skipper Ledley King.

Sitting second just five points adrift of surprise packets Leicester City with only four games remaining, Mauricio Pochettino’s side need an unblemished record till the last day of the campaign to stand any chance.

Speaking in Melbourne at the official launch of the International Champions Cup Australia presented by Audi, the club’s ambassador believes they will do just that and keep the Foxes honest until the very end.

“I genuinely do believe they can still win it,” King told Outside90.com.

“When the gap grew to 10 points before that match at home to Manchester United (3-0 win to Spurs) it end up being the best performance of the season, which told me the team have the right mentality and are ready to take on the challenge.”

“They proved that they’re not going away and I’m confident the current crop are capable of winning their last four games to give themselves a genuine chance.”

The Spurs have struggled to shake a myriad of false dawns and become a perennial top four side in recent times.

However, it would appear that optimism surrounding the club is at an all-time high and the club has the ingredients to regularly compete for titles.

King was a part of the last Tottenham side to make the Champions when they finished fourth in 2011-12 and he’s adamant this time around the club will ensure they break their old habits.

“I really do believe the club have got what it takes now,” he said.

“When I look back at the team who finished fourth, there was still that instability with some of the best players leaving and not committing to the club.”

“It hurt us when we lost Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and the manager so quickly, but now it’s different.”

“It’s a far more stable squad consisting of a young hungry team, young hungry manager and everything just seems to fit.”

“I fully expect this team to go on for years and compete not just in the Champions League but for titles in future years.”

On a lighter note, King is delighted the club and the fans in particular can revel in finishing above their fiercest rivals Arsenal for the first time in 20 years.

“It’s been a long time coming!” he said.

“There’s been a few close runs over the years, but I learned never to get over confident if we had a gap on them.”

“It was agonising when we fell away 2012-13 because that was our fault rather than their good form.”

“Most importantly, I’m hoping it it could be a trend moving forward.”
