Juventus legend David Trezeguet says current star and French compatriot Paul Pogba is “committed” to the Old Lady despite the continual speculation linking him with a move away from the club.

After several consistently brilliant seasons in the Serie A, Pogba has been constantly linked with a move away, with former coach Antonio Conte reportedly wanting him at his new club Chelsea, as well as Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona all equally vying for his signature.

On hand in Melbourne at the official launch of the International Champions Cup Australia presented by Audi, which will feature Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur, Ateltico Madrid and local side Melbourne Victory, Trezeguet said the Italian giants have a lot to offer for the French starlet.

“He [Paul Pogba] is committed just as much as Juventus to keep on going. They have a lot to offer for him,” he told Outside90.com.

“There’s no issues. Juventus’ idea is very clear. They have a contract and are going to respect that deal.

“Obviously he’s a super important asset for Juventus, he’s coming off another great season and I hope he performs just as well for the French national team at the Euros.”

Will he stay or will he go?

Trezeguet made 245 and scored 138 goals in a glittering career with the Old Lady, and spoke glowingly of current club-captain and Italian legend Gianluigi Buffon.

“In the end he can play for as long as he can. His goal is to go and play until the next World Cup in Russia 2018 so there’s a least another couple of seasons left in him,” he said.

“One of the secrets as to why he’s always played so well is he’s always been very disciplined. Always taking care of his body and being very professional. He’s a huge ambassador of the Juventus brand and of Italian football.”

It is not the first time Juventus will be touring Australia, after playing a pre-season in friendly in 2013 against an A-League All Stars team led by none other than Alessandro Del Piero, and Trezeguet says it is all about furthering the Juventus ‘way’.

“It’s amazing. It’s a very impressive stadium [the MCG]. In terms of the tournament, quality wise playing with Tottenham and Atelico Madrid, as well as Melbourne Victory, it’s a huge event and for Juventus to connect with the Melbourne Italian community,” he said.

“Obviously Juventus has a huge base of fans all over the world, including Australia, so being here is part of the Juventus development.

“Two years ago in Sydney and now here [Melbourne], and that’s the reason why, they’re not coming here for the tournament itself but spending 10 days.”
