Every week on AUSFIFA there are surprise shocks, glorious comebacks, outrageous goals and plenty more on the most sophisticated FIFA gaming platform.

The AVPL has showcased some of the finest football.

Here are five things we learned from the AVPL series this week:

Playnation FFA are not invincible

First placed Playnation FFA are on top of the league by one point to The Empire. They are a team that has taken the competition by storm with 38 points from a possible 54. Their impeccable record comes with their ability to grind a result against the big teams. In 18, games they have 11 wins and five draws, while also managing to only lose two games. However, they have only managed four points from a possible 12 in their previous three games. The gap at the top is now very close, with only six points separating first and sixth. First place is Playnation FFA’s to lose but they cannot afford to drop anymore points with only nine rounds remaining.

Youngy148 has caught some serious form

Gone Fishin is a team which had only recently come together prior to the AVPL but with a stack of stars they had big ambitions coming into the competition. They began with eight points from a possible thirty from their first ten games. Four losses by just one goal and a struggle for goals with four games leaving them scoreless. The need for goals was what was harming the team and in recent weeks their fortunes have finally changed. They now have five wins on the trot with a massive 13 goals in the last five games compared to six goals from their first five. This sudden shift comes down to star striker Youngy148, who has scored 10 out of those thirteen goals. He scored two hat-tricks in their last two games and if he continues in this vein of form then they will push for a place in the top four.

Hidden gem Jeemshah35 shinning in debut season

Aidanski has produced one of the buys of the season with new man Jeemshah35. He has been a revelation in a not so bright season for Elite Eleven FCwho have struggled for wins. The team is only relatively new and so there is not a huge emphasise on the team to perform. However when the team produces star players such as Jeemshah35 teams become worried. The star man has produced 13 goals and five assists in 17 games in what is an unbelievable start to life in the AVPL. The striker has taken the competition by storm as he is now fourth in the Golden Boot race and is four goals shy of front runner MitchBraaahz. Time will tell whether or not he will take out the Golden Boot in his maiden season.

New season same old Bull

Only nine rounds remain in a hugely competitive season, however one of the completion favourites Black Bull FC have pulled out of the race. In what was a slow start to the season, Black Bull FC were mid-table with a good chance of making the finals series. The team has been relatively inactive in recent seasons, however their return was massive. In the lead up to the season their second team Black Calf went on a streak of 46 games unbeaten and with that they set the win streak record to 16. So when news came that they were having problems on the eve of the season, teams were rather excited by the possibility of Black Bull FC going into the competition weakened. However, weakness turned to brokenness and that is what made them pull out with internal problems always looming large.

Minimal movement in the transfer window

The mid-season restricted transfer window has come and gone with only two players being signed and one player being delisted. The transfer window saw the rarely active barney911 move from Gone Fishin to Wild Cats and the primarily Xbox man RAMBOtheRIDDIK move from Not Them Again to Imperials. Also, crowd favourite PotatoWarlord was delisted from FKN WINRAR to make room in their playing roster for other signings. With such little movement in the transfer window there came plenty of talk regarding the implementation of a more free transfer window. However, the reality is that small teams will pull out if they lose their star players as recent seasons have shown. Perhaps one day it will be a viable option, but for now it remains off the cards.
