Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglou is on the verge of a shock move to managing an English Premier League side.

The man who led Australia to the 2015 Asian Cup triumph on home soil is fielding offers from mid to low-level EPL clubs, with Aston Villa namely looking to acquire the Australian’s services.

Following the mutual parting of ways with manager Remi Garde, which also follows the sacking of Tim Sherwood earlier this season, the club are on the lookout for a new manager and have sounded out Postecoglou as the ideal man to re-build the club.

during the Barclays Premier League match between Swansea City and Aston Villa at Liberty Stadium on March 19, 2016 in Swansea, United Kingdom.

Despite the club’s likely relegation from the Premier League, Postecoglou confirmed it is an offer that may be too good to refuse.

The club are keen to secure the Socceroos boss as early as possible, which would mean Postecoglou may have to relinquish his duties as national team manager.

“I can confirm I have fielded a couple of offers from the Premier League. Aston Villa is one,” he said.

“The opportunity would be immense and if you ask every coach in the world, their goal would be to manage in the best league in the world and that is the English Premier League.

“It’s a decision that I will not take lightly [to leave the Socceroos].

“But also the opportunity to build a new Aston Villa around the likes of Matt McKay is almost too good to refuse.”

It is believed Swansea is also interested, with boss Francesco Guidolin only at the club on an interim basis.
