Roy Hodgson’s provisional England squad has been named, with Manchester United starlet Marcus Rashford included in the Three Lions’ striking setup.

It is a largely youthful lineup, but Rashford is perhaps the biggest surprise package named in England’s Euro 2016 squad. Eighteen-year-old Rashford burst onto the scene with Manchester United in the latter stage of the season, capturing plenty of imaginations with four goals in 10 games, including a match-winning strike in the Manchester Derby.

Rashford is untried at senior level on the international stage but has represented England at under-16, under-18 and under-20 level, totalling five appearances. Whether he makes the final grade remains uncertain, but the youngster has thrown his name in the hat to rub shoulders with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane.

Elsewhere, Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater has been rewarded for a brilliant season with provisional selection. He has chalked up one prior cap.
