Sunderland need 11 players ready to fight
If there is one thing that Big Sam will install into the Black Cats players over the coming weeks, it is the fight and grit that is needed to make it in this difficult league.
Sunderland, thus far this season, has lacked the fight to stay in the contest and the concentration to avoid costly errors, leading to goals far too often.
It is for this reason that they are sitting equal bottom of the Premier League table without a win. Adding to their misery, they also record the worst goal difference in the competition, conceding 19 goals in nine games.
The only Sunderland players that are not hiding away from a challenge and are fighting for the cause are Lee Cattermole and Fabio Borini, who worked tirelessly for the team all game.
