Crystal Palace maintained their great away record with a 2-1 win against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.

It looked like a game that would be ending level after both sides scored from penalties. Wilfried Zaha was tripped up by Glen Whelan, leaving Connor Wickham to end his 14 game goal drought by scoring from the spot, the first goal that Stoke have conceded when Ryan Shawcross has been on the pitch in a run that lasted over 540 minutes. It was not until late on that the Potters, despite the opportunities they had, were able to level with Damien Delaney penalised for handling the ball in the box. Bojan coolly converted, although Wayne Hennessey did get hand on the shot.

After only being on the field for a matter of minutes, Lee Chung-yong was able to score a cracker from 20-yards that gave Jack Butland in Stoke’s goal no chance as it curved away into the bottom left corner.

Stoke should be disappointed by the result as they had the better of the chances and will now need to bounce back before they face Manchester United at home. while Palace will travel to the Vitality Stadium to take on Bournemouth, with both games taking place on Boxing Day.
