Harry Kane became Tottenham Hotspur’s most prolific scorer ever with a goal in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Phillipe Coutinho put the home team in front with a well-struck finish in the 51st minute of the game. A well played setup with Daniel Sturridge allowed the magician to put the home side in front with a composed strike into the bottom corner.

Kane proved that he is one of Tottenham’s own by scoring the equaliser Spurs were so desperately seeking after going behind. Christian Eriksen did extremely well to keep a long pass in, before placing the ball into the box. Kane took the ball on the turn and fired low and hard to the far corner to give Spurs a fighting chance of getting all three points.

Hugo Lloris kept Spurs in the first half with three terrific saves in the final 10 minutes. Adam Lallana hit a volley into the ground, forcing the Frenchman into smart stop to keep the game level.
Though the game was a bit of a slow-burner during the first half, the second provided much more drama, as well as adding extra spice to the run home and title race.

The game was an equal affair, but Spurs were without a definitive chance for the first 45 minutes. Spurs now rely on Mauricio Pochettino’s old club Southampton to force Leicester City into dropping points in this tense ending to the 2015-16 Premier League season. Tottenham are now only four points behind Leicester in the Premier League table.

Spurs drop valuable points: Is it too far now?

Tottenham dropped two points valuable against a resilient Liverpool on Saturday. Spurs went into the game five points behind Leicester City, and with the Foxes still to play against Southampton, the Lilywhites are now only four points behind.

One would expect Leicester to down the Saints, but the South Coast club has had two wins a draw in their last four games, so it may be tricky, including a come from behind 3-2 win over Liverpool. With six weeks to go until the end of the season, is a four-point gap too far for Spurs? Arsenal too are closing in on their rivals and are only three points behind.

The magician

Phillipe Coutinho scored only his second goal at Anfield this season to put the home side in front. The Brazilian is a valuable asset to Jurgen Klopp’s team, though his yellow card in the first half for an excessive dive was stupid to say the least. It is hard to give full credibility when a player pulls such a stunt, yet his goal was very well taken. Coutinho almost gave the Reds all three points in the final 10 minuts, but fired just wide.

Son Hueng-min

Erik Lamela is currently out with a calf strain, which gave Son Hueng-min a chance to start and show what he can do. Son has rarely started in the Premier League, but has often come on as a substitute. While Son had a strong volleyed shot go just wide, the South Korean was subbed before 70 minutes for Naccer Chadli. This gives the idea that this role is a bit of a problem role for Mauricio Pochettino, as he never seems to be 100% happy with who he chooses to play just behind Harry Kane and Dele Alli.
