Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has received an Outstanding Achievement honour at the 2016 GQ Men of the Year Awards.

The Italian went down in Premier League history after taking his Foxes side to an unimaginable title win in 2015-16.

“At the start of the last football season the bookies were saying this man’s team had as much chance of winning the Premier League as there was finding the Loch Ness monster…and after last season maybe they should start looking,” said presenter Rachel Riley.

“He took a team who were fated for relegation, and through teamwork, character, pizza and notable skill he made a mockery of those who say the Premier League was all about money.

“Its about dreams, and believing them can make them come true.”

Leicester claimed their first ever top-flight title losing just three games throughout the season, with the manager’s affable approach winning over many admirers.

“Its a great honour for me…because its not a football magazine,” said Ranieri upon accepting the award.

“We have to say thank you to my chairman and my squad, because [they] make something impossible possible.

“I want to say also thank you to my agent, who brought me back to England one year ago.

“And finally I want to say also thank you to my wife…40 years are so long, yet so short.”
