Borussia Monchengladbach
Yann Sommer – 4: Conceded five goals. A simply horrid outing.
Tony Jantschke – 5.5: Withdrawn from proceedings at half time. It was a decent half though, his substitution may have been due to an injury precaution
Andreas Christensen – 4.5: Beaten by opponents on many occasions. Failed to prevent the sudden onslaught.
Havard Nordtveit – 4: Also caught out too much, especially in the second half. Was notably torn apart by the Hernandez and Kiessling one-two combinations.
Oscar Wendt – 5: Did not produce the great link-up play on the left-hand side we have seen in recent weeks. He was also part of a defence that simply collapsed in the second half.
Granit Xhaka – 4.5: Made little impact on the match, no creative spark from the Swiss midfielder.
Mahmoud Dahoud – 4: Failed to influence proceedings. He also had no answer to the abrupt Leverkusen goal fest.
Julian Korb – 4.5: Showcased his impressive recent form in the first half, particularly when he breezed past defenders before firing a shot off-target. Went missing in the second half; the same could be said about the majority of the Gladbach squad.
Ibrahima Traore – 4: Also withdrawn at half time, and it was a disappointing half.
Lars Stindl – 6: Caused the opposing defenders some grief. Was determined to push his way through the Leverkusen defensive wall.
Josip Drmic – 5.5: A rare start for the Swiss. Worked very hard to impose himself on the match. Saw one of his attempts saved by Leno.
Substitutes
Nico Elvedi – 4: The 19-year-old defender entered the pitch at half time. He would not have anticipated conceding four goals in the duration of his cameo.
Raffael – 5.5: Massive threat on the pitch immediately after his introduction, but his vast contribution was his outstanding free kick effort that thumped against the post.
Marvin Schulz – N/A: Introduced in the 82nd minute.
