FC Koln (4-4-2)

Timo Horn – 7.5: Excellent in the first-half, bar the Leverkusen equaliser. Some of the saves he pulled-off were anything but easy.

Marcel Risse – 8.5: Robust attacking display, delivered some exceptional set pieces, engineering both crosses leading to the goals. But he did not forget his defensive duties.

Dominic Maroh – 9: The hero, heading his side in front in the 17th minute after pouncing on a failed Papadopoulos clearance via a free kick. Looked extremely dangerous at every set piece attack. He completed his brace in the 73rd minute with a perfectly executed header to make give his club a 2-1 advantage. On another day he could of had a quadruple.

Dominique Heintz – 5: Distribution was great and he managed a shot on target, not his best performance in a defensive sense though.

Jonas Hector – 6: His left side was breached by Bellarabi in patches of the first 45 minutes. Overall it was a convincing display, consisting of three key passes and some handy defensive work.

Yuya Osako – 5: Looked lively at times, but was unable to make any vast contributions.

Matthias Lehmann – 5.5: The midfielder did not align himself with the attack, but his defensive shift was effective.

Kevin Vogt – 5: Completed a string of striving runs in a bid to make something happen, produced the through ball leading to the Papadopoulos send-off.

Leonardo Bittencourt – 5: Saw very little of the ball, but managed to create a key pass and squeeze a shot on target.

Philipp Hosiner – 4.5: Lack of involvement and distribution was poor, linked up well with Modeste on the odd occasion.

Anthony Modeste – 7.5: A potent display from the Frenchman, his presence was influential throughout the 90 minute duration. His early chance tested Leno and he manoeuvred himself into a one-on-one with Leno before being illegally bought down.
