Shane Smeltz (Sydney FC)
Shane Smeltz rediscovered his abilities in his first year at Sydney FC. While not as effective as a starting striker, his impact off the bench did not go unnoticed. Several Sky Blues fans noted his impact off the bench and several times throughout 2014-15, he scored or was involved in the build-up to a goal.
In 2015-16, Smeltz’s confidence has returned and he is looking to be the first choice striker at the Sky Blues. There is no doubt that despite his age, Smeltz still has something to offer at this level. Is it a starting spot, however? That remains to be seen.
