Roy Krishna (Wellington Phoenix)

Roy Krishna is one of the league’s less glamorous strikers. Signed by Wellington in 2014 as an injury replacement player, Krishna initially excited with his pace but his technique let him down.

In 2014-15, Wellington coach Ernie Merrick developed Krishna into a more potent striking option. He scored nine goals in 25 appearances which, by A-League standards, is a fairly decent haul. Only Nathan Burns overshadowed him in the goalscoring department. Merrick should be credited for improving Krishna’s worth last season as well as his goalscoring haul.

Krishna’s pace is what makes him exciting to watch. With another season under his belt, his abilities in front of goal should further develop. In turn, this should increase Krishna’s chances of becoming a striker to be feared in 2015-16.
