Hingert’s drive forward was a highlight of his game combined with his combination with goal scorer Brandon Borrello. This is the type of from that continues to see the former North Queensland Fury man keep Jerome Polenz out of the side.

Throughout the night the former Perth Glory man managed to stop the Kiwi from cutting inside onto his left foot and blocking any crosses from Barbarouses.

Corona (Central midfield) – Brisbane Roar

The Spaniard once again earns himself selection in the team of the week following another commanding performance in his side’s 2-1 win over the Central Coast Mariners. Playing alongside Captain Matt McKay in the holding positions the former Almeria man was once again the midfield general. A player who was once on the books of Spanish giants Real Madrid (appearing for their second and third sides) Corona was the man who controlled the pace of the game throughout the Sunday afternoon game.

Matt McKay (Central midfield) – Brisbane Roar

The Brisbane Roar skipper missed the opening game against the Western Sydney Wanderers due to the international but McKay made a seamless transition back into club football. The former Rangers man showed the energy, chasing down balls and pressing high up the pitch that he has come to be known for. His energy gave the Roar midfield an extra dimension compared to last week’s draw.

Aaron Mooy (Central midfield) – Melbourne City

How much longer will this man be in the A-League, before a more lucrative offer comes knocking? The Socceroo produced another passing masterclass at the heart of the City midfield highlighted by his cross-field assist for Olyroo Stefan Mauk’s first ever A-League goal. Despite being shadowed by Victory captain Carl Valeri for most of the night Mooy’s work rate was rewarded as he was instrumental in City’s second half comeback.

Brandon Borrello (Striker) – Brisbane Roar

Borrello scored a double in his side’s 2-1 win over the Central Coast Mariners, a win that leaves his side top of the table after the first two games of the season. Both of the 20-year-olds goals were superbly taken and well placed after great lead up work from partner Jamie Maclaren. As a player to come through the Roar’s youth system the forward pace and agility caused trouble for the Mariners’ defence all afternoon.
